About Michiel Maertens

Michiel Maertens currently works at the Belgian Permanent Representation as a Flemish delegate for Energy.

He previously translated Flemish priorities into concrete European energy and climate policies on topics such as CCS, while maintaining a broader perspective on industrial decarbonisation and the impact of high energy prices on European and Belgian competitiveness.

As an energy attaché, he now applies his combined experience in implementation and high-level EU strategy to help shape the emerging CCS market.
