Jeannette Baljeu has been a Member of the European Parliament since July 2024, representing the Dutch People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), part of the Renew Europe group.

She is a full member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) and a substitute member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee (ENVI) and the Transport and Tourism Committee (TRAN).

Her work in the European Parliament focuses on building a sustainable single market, with particular attention to clear and workable regulation for businesses, industrial transformation and critical raw materials.

Before joining the European Parliament, she served as Regional Minister of Zuid-Holland from 2017 to 2024 and as Vice-Mayor of Rotterdam from 2006 to 2014. In these roles, she worked on the transition of industrial, port and maritime clusters towards a more sustainable and circular economy, as well as on water management and water quality.
